NMC IELTS Score Requirements
The NMC requires IELTS Academic (not General Training) with the following minimum scores:

Which IELTS Test Type Does the NMC Accept?
The NMC accepts IELTS Academic only. It does not accept:
- IELTS General Training
- IELTS for UKVI (the SELT version, even though it is the same test)
- IELTS Online (the remote version)
- IELTS One Skill Retake scores

Listening and Reading
These are the most improvable sub-tests. Practice with official Cambridge IELTS practice tests (books 15 to 19 are the most recent and representative). For Listening, focus on note completion and matching questions. For Reading, practise True/False/Not Given questions — these are the most commonly missed question type.
Speaking
Band 7.0 in Speaking requires fluency with occasional hesitation (not scripted smoothness), a range of vocabulary including some less common words, and the ability to develop your ideas with examples. Writing
If you are aiming for 7.0 in Writing (beyond the 6.5 minimum), focus on Task 2 essay structure. Use a four-paragraph structure: introduction with your position, body paragraph 1 with your main argument, body paragraph 2 with your supporting or counter argument, and conclusion. Use linking words naturally, not mechanically. Write at least 250 words.
IELTS vs OET for NMC: Quick Comparison
